New York State Comptroller, Thomas P. DiNapoli Here is a valuable new tool that allows the public to see how federal stimulus money is being spent in New York.

New York is going to receive $26.7 billion dollars in federal stimulus funds over the next two years from Washington. These are taxpayer dollars, and we’ve seen what happens when we don’t watch those dollars closely. We’ve seen, for instance, the big corporations use TARP money for questionable, even outrageous, purposes.

New Yorkers deserve and demand accountability with their tax money. We can’t let stimulus dollars be wasted.

The new federal stimulus search in Open Book New York allows the public to follow the money. Users can see what companies are doing federal stimulus work, how much they got paid and when.

We’re opening the check book for the taxpayers.

Times are tough. New York families are watching every dime in their family budgets. Open Book New York helps those same New Yorkers track every dime in their state budget too.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Thomas P. DiNapoli
State Comptroller
